the art of letting go:
workshop + retreat

The Art of Letting Go was created as a space where art and healing can meet.
Through intentional gatherings, participants are invited to explore release, vulnerability, and transformation through mixed media. Guided by artist Lauren Ashleigh, each experience centers process over perfection—using texture, color, and storytelling as tools for expression. These retreats and workshops are as much about connection as they are creation, offering a supportive environment where emotions are welcomed and creativity unfolds naturally.

Each workshop is gently structured with prompts and techniques designed to help you move emotion through material without pressure, perfection, or expectations

❋ Guided Creative Release

Work hands-on with mixed media, texture, and unconventional tools. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, layer, destroy, rebuild, and follow curiosity where it leads.

❋ Material Exploration

Create alongside others in a small, intentional group. Shared presence, conversation, and quiet moments foster a sense of belonging and mutual support.

❋ Community + Connection

This is a space rooted in respect, consent, and emotional safety where you’re free to show up exactly as you are and engage at your own pace.

❋ A Held, Supportive Environment
For the past ten years, I have shared my love of art through teaching and creating across many mediums, guiding artists of all ages to explore self-expression, experimentation, and emotional release. My practice is rooted in connection: between artist and material, between people and their stories, and between the creative process and healing. Through texture, color, and movement, I seek to transform both pain and beauty into something tangible, something that speaks to our shared humanity.
Receiving the GCAC Artist Projects Award allowed me to bring a long-held dream to life — The Art of Letting Go: A Weekend Retreat and Community Exhibition. This project combined my passions for mixed media, teaching, and mental health awareness in a deeply meaningful way. Over one weekend, eleven artists came together to explore vulnerability and creative freedom, forming a supportive community built on trust, curiosity, and compassion.
As both artist and instructor, I pour my heart into creating spaces where others feel safe to explore and express their inner worlds. I believe art has the power to heal, to connect, and to remind us that we are never alone in what we carry. My greatest fulfillment comes not only from what I create with my own hands, but from witnessing others discover their own voice through the act of making.
