“HER MUSINGS” series

Over the last year, I decided to have an in home studio space for myself again. Because my inspiration and creativity strikes at all hours, and I must unleash quickly sometimes.

These 11x14” pages are just what I use to protect my art table. I’ve been doing stuff like this for years but just throw them away. Though I had the realization a few months ago that these are also art. It feels even more vulnerable because this is what I feel like my brain looks like. A chaotic mess, a lot of contradictions and hot and cold thoughts. Including words in a piece used to feel cheap to me, but now I see the importance and power putting words into art can be. These are filled with my thoughts, lyrics I felt, therapist encouragements and tips, anger and joy, scribbles, and excess marks and paint from the projects created on top of them. I drew at this table while anxious, while calm, while FaceTiming friends, during moments of Art block, while silly, when I got distracted. It’s been a place of release. I hope you love them as much as I do (:
